Representatives of Afghan telecom company held talks with Uzbek head of telecommunication departments. The delegation was headed by executive director of the company Gul-Ahmad Rastman.
During his visit to Uzbekistan Gul-Ahmad Rastman held talks with head of Uzbek Communication and Information Agency and Uzbek telecom JSC, the Agency told Trend . Inter-operator agreement between Uzbek telecom and Afghan telecom company was signed as a result of the talks.
"The agreement's purpose includes cooperation on mutual rendering the international telecommunication services between Uzbek telecom the biggest operator and Afghan telecom company," the Agency said.
The services will be delivered via fiber-optic main line connecting two nations. Presently, it is under construction.
The main line's putting into operation will ensure direct connection between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan. The main line will be used to render services of the international telephone communication, access to Internet and transit for Afghanistan through Uzbekistan to CIS countries and distant foreign countries.
The main line's capacity is based under STM-16 equipment.
Karshi-Termez fiber-optic communication line was put into operation in November 2008, the agency said.
Its length totals over 360 kilometers parallel to Karshi-Termez digital line-of-sight line. It is directed to extend main line communication systems. Digital transmission system with STM-16 (having speed of 2.5 gigabit per second) was also put into operation.
The Agency together with China Development Bank and Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd (China People's Republic) operate rapidly to develop telecommunication systems in Kashkadr and Surhandar regions, the press service said. The work is being conducted upon the project Uzbek telecom and Reconstruction and development of telecommunication systems. Its total cost is closer to $18 million 313,500.
