Kazakhstan, Russia eye increasing mutual flights

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 1

By Nargiz Sadikhova – Trend:

Kazakh and Russian civil aviation specialists are in talks to increase the number of flights following the resumption of flights operation between countries, Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov said in an interview with Kazinform, Trend reports.

At the same time, he noted that now it is too soon to artificially force the complete lifting of COVID-related restrictions on flight implementation.

Lavrov added that thousands of Russian students could not return from Kazakhstan due to these restrictions.

“It should be noted that given the difficult epidemiological situation, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation has prepared special distance education programs so that all students, both Russian and foreign, can continue their studies in current conditions. Creating a safe environment for university students is our absolute priority,” Lavrov said.

On Oct.19, 2020, Kazakhstan’s government decided to take several measures to battle the spread of coronavirus infection in the country.

Thus, the number of flights on international routes will be reduced starting Oct. 26, 2020, taking into account the epidemiological situation in foreign countries;

Mandatory PCR testing of all arriving in Kazakhstan (including citizens of Kazakhstan), as well as drivers carrying out bilateral international transportation, will be conducted;

The validity period of the carried out PCR test for those arriving from abroad, including citizens of Kazakhstan, shall be no more than 3 days.

The first two cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Kazakhstan among those who arrived in Almaty city from Germany on March 13, 2020.
