BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 5. The number of trucks crossing through the Jolfa border checkpoint in the East Azerbaijan Province (north-western Iran), increased by 64 percent during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of East-Azerbaijan Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization Orujali Alizadeh said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

According to Alizadeh, 53,800 trucks crossed the Jolfa border checkpoint in 6 months.

“In addition, a total of 540,000 tons of goods were exported and imported through the Jolfa border checkpoint over six months,” he said.

The director general also added that more than 370,000 tons of goods were transited through the checkpoint during the reporting period.

At the same time, 92,548 people crossed the Jolfa border checkpoint within 6 months, Alizadeh noted.

The Jolfa border checkpoint is located on the border with Iran and Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
