Lion's share of EBRD's activity in Tajikistan focuses on sustainable infrastructure

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 17. The current loan portfolio of EBRD (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development) projects in Tajikistan equals 516 million euros, allocating for the 67 active projects as of May 31, Trend reports.

The bank said that the majority of its loan portfolio in Tajikistan, comprising 452 million euros or 88 percent, is dedicated to sustainable infrastructure.

Additionally, 33 million euros or 6 percent is directed towards industry, commerce, and agriculture, while 32 million euros or 6 percent of the portfolio is allocated to financial institutions.

In Tajikistan, the largest allocation of funds by EBRD for the past six years occurred in 2020, with a significant investment of 131 million euros. In 2022, the bank invested 21 million euros in various projects within the country.

Tajikistan joined EBRD in 1992, since then the bank has established itself as the primary investor in the country, fostering a longstanding cooperation.

Over the years, the EBRD has invested a cumulative total of 917 million euros for 159 projects throughout the country. Its primary focus in Tajikistan lies in enhancing infrastructure, promoting regional connectivity, and creating employment opportunities.
