Chile's new ambassador to Uzbekistan presents credentials in Foreign Affairs Ministry

Uzbekistan, Tashkent, August 6 /Trend D.Azizov /

The newly appointed Chilean Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Uzbekistan with residence in Moscow, Juan Eduardo Eguiguren presented his credentials addressed to the Uzbek President Islam Karimov, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.

The credentials were presented to Uzbekistan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Komilov, the report said.

According to the report, the sides discussed the issues of development of Uzbek-Chilean relations in the bilateral format and within international organizations.

The sides spoke about various initiatives directed towards institutionalization of the political dialogue, as well as, through holding regular consultations between foreign ministries, regulating inter-parliamentary exchanges, establishing direct links between business circles and representatives of the cultural-humanitarian spheres of Uzbekistan and Chile.

The sides also discussed separate international and regional problems of mutual interest.

According to Uzbekistan's Foreign Affairs Ministry, the diplomatic relations between the countries were established in 1994.
