New thermal power plant in Uzbekistan begins supplying electricity

Thermal power plant with a capacity of 270 MW in Bukhara region of Uzbekistan began supplying electricity to the country’s single energy system, Trend reports via the Uzbek Ministry of Energy.

The first power unit of this power plant was put into operation on December 31, 2021.

This power plant is designed to generate 2.2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year.

Turkish Aksa Enerji company took part in the project, in particular with construction of the plant.

The project will save 260 million cubic meters of natural gas per year via energy-efficient equipment. The saved natural gas will generate an additional 900 million kilowatt-hours of electricity.
