BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 19. Gas contracts between Azerbaijan and Georgia mitigate inflation impact, said Governor of National Bank of Georgia (NGB), Koba Gvenetadze said, Trend reports.
Gvenetadze made the remark at an online session of the International Monetary Fund titled "New Path Forward Amid a New Economic Shock in the Caucasus and Central Asia".
According to NBG Governor, increasing oil prices impact on countries, which don’t have energy subsidies.
“In Georgia, energy subsidies are not provided, so we saw a large increase in domestic energy prices. With gas prices the situation is a bit different, because some short-term bilateral contracts may mitigate inflation impact,” Gvenetadze said.
