( dpa ) - An actor in martial arts movies was fined 2,000 Hong Kong dollars (250 US dollars) over a brawl in which he punched an ambulance driver, a newspaper reported Friday.

Law Kwan-lam, 54, received the sentence Thursday after pleading guilty to a charge of common assault that occurred January 28 near his home in the Kowloon area of Hong Kong, the South China Morning Post said.

Earlier reports said Law, also known as Law Mong and a popular actor since 1976, was arrested after he reportedly kissed two men and then punched the driver before being overpowered by a paramedic.

A charge of drunk and disorderly conduct was withdrawn against Law, who appeared in movies that included Shaolin Temple, Chinatown Kid and The Bastard Swordsman.
