(dpa) - A Danish soldier was killed Monday in a firefight with Taliban Taliban in southern Afghanistan, the Danish Army Operational Command said, raising the number of Danish fatalities to 15 since 2002.

Two other Danish soldiers were wounded as they took part with British forces in an operation against the Taliban, some 20 kilometres from the city of Gerishk in the restive Helmand province, the statement said.

Less than a week ago, another Danish soldier was killed in the same area. About 780 Danish soldiers are deployed in Afghanistan, serving with the NATO-led ISAF mission.
