Hundreds of students packed the streets of Caracas, Venezuela, on Saturday to march in opposition to a constitutional amendment on the ballot this month that would allow leftist Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez to run for a third consecutive six-year term in 2012, CNN reported.

The protests were broadcast on CNN affiliate Globovision, which showed live pictures of marches in Tarima, Mariperez and Esquina Crillon, all areas of Caracas.

Student leader Ricardo Sanchez, who leads a movement opposed to the amendment, was at the rally and spoke to the crowds.
