Turkey discloses volume of cargo shipment through Istanbul port

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug.18

Some 297,250 tons of cargo have been transported via Turkey’s Istanbul port in the first seven months of 2021, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on Aug.18.

According to the ministry, in the reporting period, 32,008 tons of cargo were handled through the port by ships flying the flag of Turkey, and 265,242 tons by ships flying the flags of other countries to Turkish ports.

Meanwhile, 14,138 tons of cargo were transited via the Istanbul port, the ministry said.

Over 219.5 million tons of goods have been transshipped through the Turkish ports from January through July 2021, 17.5 million tons of cargo were handled by ships flying the Turkish flag, and more than 201.9 million tons - by ships flying the flags of other countries.

More than 43.9 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports in the first seven months of this year.

Furthermore, nearly 31.3 million tons of cargo were transported through the Turkish ports in July 2021.

In the same month, around 2.2 million tons of cargo were transported to the domestic ports via ships flying the Turkish flag while via ships flying the flags of other countries – 29.1 million tons.

Meanwhile, over 6.6 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports.
