NATO, Georgia discuss country’s role after completion of its peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan

Georgian Defence Minister Irakliy Alasaniya in the framework of its official visit to Afghanistan continues meetings with senior representatives of NATO and the unified command of the ISAF mission.

In the headquarters of the mission Alasaniya and deputy chief of Georgian Armed Forces Joint Staff, Colonel Vladimir Chachibaya met with the commander of International Security Assistance Force, General Joseph Dunford.

As the Georgian Defence Ministry told Trend on Wednesday, the parties discussed the role of Georgia after the completion of ISAF mission and issues of ensuring the safety of the Georgian military contingent.

"We met with all the senior NATO officials and discussed general plans. General Dunford shared his vision of the plans, which he will present at the NATO ministerial meeting in October. It was about the role of Georgia after the completion of ISAF mission. We discussed the safety of our troops after the tragedy that occurred a few months ago," Alasaniya said.
Georgian Defence Minister held a meeting in Kabul with the Deputy NATO Senior Civilian Representative in Afghanistan Earl Lee Litzenberger and the chief of the ISAF joint management center Lieutenant-General Marc Miles.
