Karabakh Liberation Organization's march prohibited in Baku

The Karabakh Liberation Organization (KLO) was prohibited to stage a march on the day of occupation of Shusha on May 8.

In a response letter the Baku City Administration stated that the KLO's march was prohibited. The Administration advices to visit the Martyrs' Lane on the day of occupation of Shusha in order to honor the memory of those who were killed as the result of Armenian terror in Shusha.

On April 29, KLO sent a letter to the Baku City Administration related to May 8 march. A peace march was planned to be held along the Huseyn Javid Ave. From Mashadi Azizbayov Monument to the Martyrs' Lane at 11:00-12:00, the KLO reported.

Located in the Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijani city of Shusha was occupied by the Armenians on May 8 in 1992. Hundreds of civilians died, about 60 civilians were taken hostage and missing during the occupation. There are women and children among the dead, wounded and taken hostage. Many of them have not yet been released. As a result of the occupation, around 22,000 people became refugees. Some 248 historic sites, eight museums, an art gallery, a mausoleum, eight music schools, dozens of cultural sites, protected by the state are under occupation in Shusha.

KLO did not understand the ban. The organization will visit the Martyrs' Lane on the day of occupation of Shusha. KLO says that representatives of all public and political parties must visit Martyrs' Lane.

The KLO was established in Baku on Jan. 28 in 2000 to organize public struggle for the liberation of Karabakh from Armenian occupation. Akif Nagi, the candidate of historical sciences, is the head of the organization. Organization unites 10,000 people including intelligentsia, refugees and internally displaced persons, youths, former servicemen and officers. KLO has 74 local departments in Azerbaijan and representatives in many countries
