Speaker of the Iranian parliament warned U.S. for the "double policy" towards Iran. "U.S. threatens Iran with a petrol sanction. The U.S. should expect response to it," Mehr news agency quoted Speaker of the Iranian parliament Ali Larijani as saying at a press conference.
Larijani said intention of the U.S. Congress to impose a sanction on petrol import to Iran is a continuation of the previous policy. "This move by Americans is not new for us. The main problem of the U.S. diplomacy is pursuing double policy. Such actions cause distrust," Larijani said.
U.S. congressmen Mark Kirk (republican from California) and Bred Sherman (democrat from California) introduced a bill to the Congress to reduce Iran's petrol supply in a bid to halt country's nuclear program.
European countries and U.S. fear that Tehran develops nuclear program for military purposes while Iran claims nuclear program pursues peaceful purposes. The UN Security Council has adopted three economic sanctions which have not yet yielded results.
