Azerbaijan, Baku, Sept. 11 /Trend, M.Aliyev/
Azerbaijan has made its contribution to combating international terrorism, member of Azerbaijani Parliament's committee on foreign relations and inter-parliamentary relations, MP Rasim Musabeyov told Trend.
He said along with participating in the peacekeeping contingent in Afghanistan, Azerbaijan carries out such an important function as the exchange of intelligence to, jointly with the U.S., fight against terrorism.
The absence of large terrorist attacks after Sept. 11, 2001 testifies the sufficiently effective organization of the struggle against terrorism in this country, Musabeyov said.
"Any major terrorist attacks have not been recorded on the territory of Azerbaijan over the past period while we are witnessing numerous acts of terror in neighboring countries," said Musabeyov.
He said it is an indication of active implementation of anti-terror operations in Azerbaijan.
Musabeyov said that significant steps over the past ten years in this regard include elimination of the leaders of the Al Qaeda terrorist organization and the establishment of the international coalition to combat terrorism.
