BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 1. The transit through Lengeh port, located in southern Iran, increased by 30 percent during nine months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through December 20, 2024) compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through December 21, 2023), the Director of Hormozgan Province Ports and Maritime Department Morteza Salari told reporters, Trend reports.
According to him, about 420,000 tons of oil and non-oil products were transported through Lengeh port during the nine months.
Salari noted that about 180,000 vehicles were transited through Lengeh port during the nine months. The transit increased by 25 percent compared to the same period last year.
The official stated that the mentioned cars were transported by about 30,000 trucks in the direction of Central Asian countries and Iraq.
Lengeh port serves as the primary hub for vehicular transshipment within the Iranian logistics framework.
To note, up to ten maritime terminals are currently functioning in the western sector of Iran's Hormozgan province. Among these maritime hubs, Lengeh, Charak, Siri, and Lavan ports exhibit heightened operational activity.
