Azerbaijan, Baku, 26 March / Trend corr E. Huseynli, S. Ilhamgizi/ On 25 March, the deputy chairman of Azerbaijan's opposition Adalat party Etimad Ismayilov was detained in Moscow by the Federal Security Service of Russia, the Spokesperson for Adalat Elkhan Shukurlu told Trend .
According to Shukurlu, the employees of the Federal Security Service accused Ismayilov of murdering an Armenian entrepreneur one year ago.
Due to the arrest of Ismayilov, the Adalat party hired attorneys and they have already arrived in Moscow.
The Adalat party and Ismayilov's attorneys oppose the accusation. They stated that Ismayilov is not guilty and the incident is intended to stain the Azerbaijani entrepreneur with the help of Armenians.
Shukurlu said that another Russia-based company owed $1mln to Ismayilov's company Eurasia Industrial and Financial Group. There is a court decision for that. According to Shukurlu, the owing company tries to spot Ismayilov and to get him imprisoned in order to avoid paying off the debt.
"Presently, the attorneys are clearing up why Ismayilov was arrested," Shukurlu said.
Azerbaijani entrepreneur Etimad Ismayilov is the head of the Russia-based Eurasia Industrial and Financial Group. He is the son of Adalat's chair MP Ilyas Ismayilov.
