Council head: Azerbaijan ready to provide foreign NGOs with financial assistance

The Council of State Support to NGOs under the President of Azerbaijan is ready to provide NGOs of foreign countries with financial assistance if they share interests with the Azerbaijan government, chairman of the council, MP Azay Guliyev said at the meeting of the NGO Forum of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation in Ankara today, the secretariat of the State Support Council to the NGO told Trend.

The Council of State Support to NGOs under the President of Azerbaijan is ready to provide NGOs of foreign countries with financial assistance if they share interests with the Azerbaijan government, chairman of the council, MP Azay Guliyev said at the meeting of the NGO Forum of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation in Ankara today, the secretariat of the State Support Council to the NGO told Trend.

Chairman of the Forum Azay Guliyev spoke about the council's activity.

"The Council is also holding discussions with the government on a number of significant social and economic issues," he said. "At this time, nearly 2,000 projects have been implemented by NGOs in different areas in the country with our financial support."

He said that trends of globalization and democratization are being observed around the world. The role of NGOs is expanding in the local and international field. NGOs play an important role in maintaining peace and security and the development of relations between countries.

He also added that the NGOs of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization member-states contribute to the implementation of energy, transportation, communication and other regional projects.

Guliyev expressed hope that the forum will create progress and that its results will be legally adopted. He also hopes that a date and place is set for the next meeting.

Delegations from Albania, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine and Greece attended the meeting.
