Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr I. Khalilova / CIS's Inter-state Council on Anti-monopoly Policy (ICAP) has proceeded with joint research in the air transportation market, the Chairman of Russian Anti-monopoly Service and the chairman of ICAP, Igor Artemyev, said in Baku after the 26th meeting of ICAP.
According to him, the analysis has two goals, namely to consider conditions of air openings for ICAP members (CIS) and to reveal violations of the anti-monopoly legislation.
Artemyev believes the main problem in the air transportation market is the high prices. "The reason for the rise in prices for tickets is due to the high prices of diesel oil, the monopoly being on filling stations located in the airports," he said.
In order to improve the situation in air transportations, a range of systematic measures should be undertaken both by the government and the anti-monopoly bodies, Artemyev said. He called on air companies to provide all the necessary information to anti-monopoly bodies. "If this is not done, sanctions could be imposed upon them," he said.
According to him, in near future all trans-national companies in CIS should feel increased attention of anti-monopoly services, for ICAP intensified joint arrangements.
Analysis of these air companies operating in Azerbaijan has also commenced, the head of Anti-monopoly Service at Azerbaijani Economic Development Ministry, Samir Dadashev, said.
"That applies to all air carriers, including the State AZAL. After the research is undertaken, the data is passed onto the staff at ICAP for their joint investigation," he said.
