Former head of the Kazakh National Bank Anvar Seyidov was appointed as adviser to the bank's chairman. Deputy chairman Arman Dunayev Samruk-Kazin was made a member of the bank's board, BTB's press service reported.
On Feb. 2, Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Masimov announced at a government meeting that former BTA Chairman Bank Mukhtar Ablyazov had been dismissed.
Masimov said the government decided to further capitalize BTA Bank by acquiring a 78.14-percent stake worth 251.5 billion tenge during an additional emission of shares.
The government also plans to nationalize Alliance Bank by acquiring a 76-percent stake.
The government will take control over BTA Bank and Alliance Bank.
"The government has decided to take control over BTA Bank and Alliance Bank. Procedures in this regard are underway. We made changes to the management and shareholders," Masimov said.
