The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)
invested in Azerbaijani economy $114 million in 2008, EBRD Baku Office head Francis Delaey said on Feb.

The funds were used to finance 19 projects in the country.
"EBRD invested $15 million in Azer-Yod LLC, a local company engaged in
production and processing of iodine," said Delaey.
The second loan of $10 million was allocated last year to Bank Respublika to
finance mortgages. Delaey said it was EBRD's first experience of such mortgage
loans funding in Azerbaijan.
"Loans to various financial institutions, as well as participation in the capital of some of them, provided majority of our 2008 projects. Further four projects were implemented in the agricultural, telecommunications, transport and real estate sectors," said Delaey.
EBRD has financed 90 projects in Azerbaijan, investing a total of $1.2 billion.
