The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) pays special attention to improving access of the population to banking services and functions of financial intermediaries, the CBA said.
The CBA continues to support the expansion of branch network. Thus, 17 bank branches were opened in the country during the seven months of 2010. Seven of these branches were opened in the country's regions.
In addition, activities of 17 post offices and 81 offices of Azerpoct were licensed.
"All of these processes extend the population's access to finance and banking services, increase lending by banks and the role of the banking system in the country's economy," the CBA said.
