Iran increases exports from Gilan Province

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 1

The exports from Gilan Province (northern Iran) increased by 51 percent in terms of value and 36 percent in terms of volume during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through November 20, 2020) compared to the same period last Iranian year, Chairman of Industry, Mine, and Trade Organization of Gilan Province Farhad Dalghpoush said, Trend reports citing the organization’s website.

Dalghpoush noted that 637,000 tons of goods worth $394 million were exported from the province over the reporting period.

"The exported goods from the Gilan province were mainly plant, mining materials, food products, textile and rubber products," he added.

The chairman stressed that these goods were exported to Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Afghanistan and Iraq.

"In addition, 1.13 million tons of goods worth $580 million were imported to Iran's Gilan Province within 8 months," he said.

According to Dalghpoush, the imports increased by 1 percent in terms of value and 44 percent in terms of volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.

The chairman emphasized that the imported goods were mainly chemicals, industrial equipment and spare parts, grain, animal feed, meat, cooking oil, soybeans and etc.

"These goods were mainly imported from Russia, Kazakhstan, China, Azerbaijan, the UAE, Ukraine, Turkey and Ecuador," he noted.
