India eyes investing in healthcare projects in Uzbekistan’s Andijan region

India plans to invest $50 million in healthcare projects in the Andijan region of Uzbekistan, Trend reports referring to Dunyo information agency.

Established in 1986 Indian Ishan Group of Companies has factories in India, Great Britain, China, Vietnam, and Uzbekistan. In the beginning, the company was engaged in the production of textile products. Then, as it developed, they began to diversify business areas.

“Our company has been cooperating with Uzbekistan for a long time, in particular, in the field of health care. We have established an enterprise for the production of medical napkins under the SoftCare brand In the Andijan region. We plan to develop our relations not only in the healthcare sector but also in other areas,” Chairman of the Ishan Group of Companies Rakesh Sharma said.

During his visit to Uzbekistan, Rakesh Sharma visited Karakalpakstan, Khorezm, and Andijan regions to hold talks on discussing joint investment projects.

“As a result of the meetings held between our company and the administration of the Andijan region, a memorandum was signed according to which we plan to invest $50 million in healthcare projects,” the chairman of the Ishan Group of Companies said.

In particular, a modern hospital and medical colleges will be built in the Andijan region, which will specialize in the training of nurses, dentists, and pharmacists.

“In addition, a cardiological center will be built in the Andijan region, where kidney and liver transplantation will be performed. Patients with cancer will also be treated there. Specialists from India will be involved in the operations. Henceforth, patients from Uzbekistan will not need to fly to other countries for treatment,” Sharma stressed.

The chairman also held negotiations with Asaka Bank on the implementation of projects in the textile sector in the Turtkul region of Karakalpakstan.

“We are planning to invest $20 million to purchase modern equipment from European countries and Bangladesh,” he added.

He also noted that Ishan Group of Companies is engaged in the import of licorice root from Karakalpakstan to India and it is planned to create an enterprise for the production of cosmetics from licorice root.
