Contracts signed for construction of facilities in Iran’s Shahid Rajaee port

Six contracts were signed for the construction of facilities on 2,400 hectares of land in the Shahid Rajaee Port in the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) on December 24, Trend reports citing Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the contracts, a plant for the production of zinc, lead, manganese, and copper, a plant for the construction of related supplies, an aluminum processing plant, industrial enterprises with the support of the stock exchange, a container plant will be built and other industrial plants will be developed.

"In total, the public and private sectors will invest 100 trillion rials (about $2.38 billion) and 800 million euro under these contracts," the report said.

Speaking at the signing ceremony of the contracts, the Chairman of the Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran Mohammad Rastad said that PMO has signed 336 contracts with the private sector in Iranian ports. The value of these contracts is 1.3 quadrillion rials (about $30.9 billion).

The chairman also noted that with the investment of the private sector in the Shahid Rajaee port, the competition in the use of this port will increase, as well as the loading and unloading of containers.
