The trade between Romania and Turkmenistan was $94.6 million from January through May 2021, which is higher compared to the same period of 2020, the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship, and Tourism of Romania told Trend.
“The exports of Romania to Turkmenistan amounted to $272,000. The imports of Romania from Turkmenistan were $94,308 million, which is higher compared to the same period of the previous year,” said the ministry.
As the ministry said, the trade exchanges between Romania and Turkmenistan consist mainly of imports of hydrocarbon products from Turkmenistan. The Romanian exports were $2.3 million in 2019 and $4.9 million in 2020, while the imports were $164.7 million in 2019 and $92.7 million in 2020.
“Our endeavor is to diversify and increase the trade flows, especially the Romanian exports, in order to decrease the trade deficit. There is also a significant potential for investments and cooperation in production, in various industrial and agriculture fields, which we need to capitalize on,” added the ministry.
As earlier the ministry said, the trade between Romania and Turkmenistan from January through October 2020 was $68.7 million.
