By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

The COVID-19 pandemic has posed challenge to bilateral projects of Azerbaijan and the European Commission, Ana Pisonero, Commission Spokesperson, told Trend.

Pisonero noted that COVID-19 pandemic represented a great challenge since the cooperation is very much based on the exchange of experiences and best practices and for more than a year it was not possible to travel.

“At the beginning of the pandemic this caused delays but progressively our bilateral projects and exchanges adapted to this new reality using IT tools to interact,” she said.

In her words, that while the parties have thus been able to adjust, particularly the Mobility actions (like the Erasmus program) have been particularly impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.

Since 2015, the Erasmus+ program has allowed short-term mobility to Europe under the International Credit Mobility for students, researchers and staff to study in universities for 3-12 months and obtain credits.
