The purchase of Kyrgyzgaz company's control packet of shares by Russian Gazprom may lead to economical dependence, an independent Kyrgyz economic expert, professor Ayilchi Saribayev believes.
"Such kind of power centralizing over a national company by foreign investor may lead to an economical dependence in a certain sphere, for example gas supplies," Saribayev told Trend on Thursday.
Gazprom plans to buy 75 percent of Kyrgyzgaz shares till September and invest $500 million in the company's reconstruction.
The expert believes such kind of shares sale is not the best choice.
"I would propose other type of share sale - the sale on stock exchanges of Kyrgyzstan and other countries," he added.
In this case the shares would be bought by different investors, and the management would no be centralized "in the hands" of one company, Saribayev said.
