SOCAR increases oil exports from Turkish Ceyhan in first quarter

The Marketing and Economic Operations Department of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) exported nearly 4.7 million tons of oil from the Turkish port of Ceyhan in January-March 2014 which is 2.2 percent more than in the same period of 2013, SOCAR said on April 1.

SOCAR exported some 1.7 million tons of oil from Ceyhan in March compared to 1.41 million tons in March 2013.

In total, the state oil company exported 19.75 million tons of oil from the port of Ceyhan in 2013 compared to 20.2 million tons in 2012.

Oil is supplied to the Ceyhan port through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline.
The total length of the BTC pipeline is 1768 kilometres, some 443 kilometres of which runs through Azerbaijan, 249 kilometres through Georgia and 1076 kilometres through Turkey. Construction of the pipeline started in April 2003 and began flowing with oil on May 18, 2005.

BTC Co,,established on August 1, 2002, stockholders are: BP (30.1 percent), AzBTC (25 percent), Chevron (8.9 percent), Statoil (8.71 percent), ТРАО (6.53 percent), Eni (five percent), Total (five percent), Itochu (3.40 percent), Inpex (2.5 percent), ConocoPhillips (2.50 percent) and ONGC (2.36 percent).
