The British Petroleum Company (BP) would like to work on the Turkish Stream project, said BP Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Robert Dudley.

He made the remarks during the 23rd World Energy Congress, which kicked off Oct. 9 in Turkey’s Istanbul city.

Dudley said that the gas component of BP’s portfolio will increase from the current 50 percent to 60 percent until 2020.

“In BP we’re very proud of our involvement in the TANAP [Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline] pipeline across Turkey that will be transporting 16 billion cubic meters of gas on its way to consumers here and in Europe,” he noted.

The Turkish Stream project is designed to transfer Russian natural gas to Europe via the Black Sea and Turkey. Russia and Turkey signed an agreement on construction of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline Oct. 10 within the 23rd World Energy Congress.

The 23rd World Energy Congress will last till Oct.13.

Running since 1924, the triennial World Energy Congress is the World Energy Council’s global flagship event that enables dialogue among ministers, CEOs and industry experts on critical developments in the energy sector.

As the world’s premier energy gathering, the Congress offers a unique opportunity for participants to better understand energy issues and solutions from a global perspective.
