Volume of gas transported to Iran’s South Pars Gas Company increases

The volume of rich gas transported to the 4th refinery of Iran’s South Pars Gas Company (SPGC) increased by 22 percent during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through October 21, 2020), compared to the same period last Iranian year, the Head of 4th Refinery of the SPGC, Behzad Salari said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

Salari noted that about 16 billion cubic meters of rich gas extracted from the 6th, 7th, and 8th phases of the South Pars gas field were transported to the 4th refinery.

The official added that while in the same period last Iranian year, about 13 billion cubic meters of rich gas were transported to the 4th refinery.

The 4th refinery of the South Pars Gas Company can process 104 million cubic meters of sour gas, 138,000 barrels of gas condensate, 3,000 tons of propane gas, and 2,000 tons of butane daily.

The South Pars gas field (called North Dome in Qatar) is a joint gas field of Iran and Qatar. The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field are estimated at 51 trillion cubic meters of gas, of which 36 trillion are extractable. Iran has so far spent $80 billion on projects of the South Pars gas field.

Iran extracted 570 million cubic meters of gas per day from this field in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019, to March 20, 2020).

The South Pars gas field has the potential to produce daily 700 million cubic meters of gas and Iran is currently extracting 630 million cubic meters of gas per day from the gas field.
