The number of payment cards increased by 18.6 percent in Azerbaijan as of late March 2020, compared to the same period in 2019, and reached 7.8 million, Trend reports citing a statistical report of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) on May 12.
The majority of the cards (6,900) are debit cards, with 2,750 being social cards, 2,330 - salary cards, and 1,800 other cards. The number of credit cards stood at 930,000 as of end of March 2020.
As of April 1, 2020, there were 2,677 ATMs in the country, of which 1,448 were in Baku and 1,229 in other cities and districts of the country. The total number of ATMs has increased by 30, or 1.1 percent, since the beginning of 2020.
The number of POS terminals in the country reached 71,127, of which 43,363 were installed in Baku and 27,764 in other cities and regions of the country. Since the beginning of 2020, the number of POS terminals in Azerbaijan has increased by 3,659 units, or 5.4 percent.
