Azerbaijani Students to Attend Final of International Student Competition of Cisco

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend / The final of the third International Student Competition of Cisco on network engineering will be held on 27 June. The organizer of the competition is the 'Educational Centre of Cisco Systems' at the Moscow Technical Communication and Information Science University which is held under the framework of the Network Academies of Cisco programmes.

Some 277 students of 66 Universities from 27 countries, mostly from CIS countries, are to take part in the competition.

Fifty-one finalists are to take part in the first stage of the competition. Thirty-two students from Russia, nine from Ukraine (one of them was Dmitri Samko, the winner of the Student Competition of Cisco on network engineering, held for the first time in the Ukraine in Spring, 2006), six from Uzbekistan, two from Belarus and two from Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. One of them will be announced the winner of the competition scheduled for 27 June.

The competition tasks for the finalists, developed by instructors of the Educational Cisco Centre, require knowledge and skill in the formation and management of active and passive network equipment. The rewarding ceremony of the winners, whose names will be placed on www.ciscotrain.ru , will be held after summing up the results of the game.

The winners will be rewarded with laptops and wireless access Linksys cell and personal computers, they will be recommended for a job at 'Cisco Systems' a partner of Cisco.

Irina Velikhova, the Manager of the Russian Network Academies of Cisco program, noted that there is shortage of professional network people in the world. This hinders the introduction of modern technology, which in turn delay economic development and leads to a decrease in the competitiveness of nations. The Student Competition of Cisco on network engineering an educational initiative of Cisco, attached to decreasing the shortage of professional network staff. It helps students disclose skills and to expand their prospects in the job market.

In 2007 the Student Competition of Cisco on network engineering, which is held within the framework of the Network Academies of Cisco will celebrate their 10th anniversary. This unique initiative, which includes 168 countries, is attached to the fundamental preparation of specialists in theory and practice of projection, construction and exploitation of local and global networks using generally recognized standards.
