Cargo transportation by sea in Azerbaijan from January through November 2021 exceeded 4.8 million tons, which is 10 percent less than over the same period of 2020, Trend reports, referring to the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Passenger transportation by sea in the reporting period of 2021 amounted to 15,800 people, which is a decrease of 15.8 percent, compared to the first 11 months of 2020.
Cargo transshipment by Azerbaijani seaports in the reporting period of 2021 amounted to 8.1 million tons, with 95.6 percent, or 7.7 million tons, accounting for transit cargo.
Oil accounted for 34.1 percent of Azerbaijan's sea export cargo shipments.
The cargo volume in warehouses in ports by December 1, 2021, amounted to 212,200 tons.
Cargo transportation by all means of it from January through November of 2021 amounted to 174.8 million tons, which is 2.2 percent more than in the same period of 2020, and passenger transportation by all means it amounted to 1 billion people, which is a decrease of 2 percent, compared to the reporting period of 2020. The share of the sea transport of all cargo transportation accounted for 2.8 percent.
