Uzbekistan does not plan to acquire rolling stocks from abroad for the expansion of the metropolitan metro, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Temir Yollari JSC Oybek Khudoikulov said.

"To date, we have already established the domestic production of rolling stock. To develop this direction, our employees visited Russia's two plants," Khudoikulov told Uzbek media outlets.

He noted that Uzbekistan will develop its own production base. To this end, the JSC "Tashkent plant for the construction and repair of passenger cars" was established back in 2001.

"Uzbek specialists are studying technology, production processes, and on this basis are preparing to launch a full-fledged production of wagons [ for subway ] in the capital," Said Bakhtiyor Sadykov, chief engineer of the Tashkent metro company.

In 2015, the JSC "Tashkent plant for the construction and repair of passenger cars" completed the modernization of the first batch of old subway cars, which are decorated in the style of the Afrosiab high-speed train operating from Tashkent to Samarkand.

Local specialists completely changed the interior and technological side. Experts say the upgraded subway cars will be able to work for another 15 years.

Recently, the Tashkent plant announced that it will deliver the first batch of carriages to abroad by the end of 2017.
