BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 17. Kazakhstan and Iran are set to increase their trade turnover to $1 billion in 2025, Trend reports.
Kazakhstan's Minister of Trade and Integration, Arman Shakkaliev, shared this plan during a meeting with Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Farzaneh Sadegh, in Tehran on February 16.
Shakkaliev emphasized that to reach this goal, the trade volume between the two countries needs to increase tenfold. He added that the ultimate aim is to meet the annual trade target of $3 billion, as envisioned by the presidents of both countries.
The Kazakh minister also noted that transit and cargo transportation play a key role in realizing this target. Last year, rail and road cargo transportation between the two nations grew by 45 percent. Despite this, there is still considerable potential to expand cargo transport between the two countries.
Sadegh highlighted the importance of increasing cargo transport and transit through air, road, rail, and port facilities. She also stressed the significance of simplifying cargo transport within the North-South International Transport Corridor and enhancing cooperation in logistics.
To note, the statistics note that for ten months, Iran's trade turnover with Kazakhstan amounted to about 526,000 tons worth $275 million.
