TEHRAN, Iran, June 26

Trend:

Iran Railways Company has increased the costs of its railway services for transportation by 30 percent, Trend reports via Mehr News Agency.

The costs of services provided by Iran Railways for transportation companies, including renting of locomotives, has increased since June 22.

"Despite the approval of the government and the National Headquarters of Coronavirus Control on necessity of public organizations to support the private sector, Iran Railways increased the costs by 30 percent due to lack of proper management," said member of Guild of Rail Transportation Companies Farhang Tolouie.

"Although the government has asked the company to support the private sector, yet the costs for services have increased anyway. This is because the company couldn't keep up its productivity equal to that of 2019," he said.

Iran Railway Company is responsible for setting the price of access to railway for transportation companies based on the law for the right of free access to rail.
