Iran sees increases in trade with regional countries

Iran is seeing to develop trade with a neighbor and regional countries, said the head of Iran-Qatar Chamber of Commerce, Trend reports citing IRNA.

The government's foreign policy priority is to develop trade with 15 neighbor countries, Reza Fatemi Amin noted.

The Ministry of Industries, Mines and Trade has estimated an increase of trade to $70 billion and export development to $35 billion in next four years.

Statistics indicate that Iran's trade with 15 neighboring countries reached 47 million tons valued $22.5 billion during the first half of current Iranian year (started March 21, 2021) which shows 37 percent growth in volume and 52 percent growth in trade value.

Iran's top export destinations during this period were Iraq ($3.8 billion), Turkey ($2.3 billion), UAE ($2.2 billion), Afghanistan ($999 million), and Pakistan ($554 million), whereas the country's top sources of import were the Emirates ($7.3 billion), Turkey ($2.4 billion), Russia ($639 million), Iraq ($499 million), and Oman ($270 million).
