Iranian Communications and Information Technology Ministry announced Thursday that ground is now paved for cooperation between Tehran and Baku in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) field, IRNA reported.

Deputy Azerbaijan Republic Communications and Technologies minister in a meeting with Iranian private sector activists in information and communications technology field asked for broader cooperation with Iran in telecom and information technology fields.

He said that getting acquainted with private sector activists in the field was an appropriate first step for broader cooperation with Iran.

"Keeping in mind the capabilities and potentials in both countries' private sectors we can hope for great development in bilateral cooperation in ICT field," added the Azerbaijani official.

Iranian Deputy Communications and Information Technology Minister for Technological and International Affairs Hassan Hashemi, too, referred to the two countries' capabilities in ICT field.

"There are broad fields for mutual cooperation between our two countries that are in need of solid and systematic organizing," he said.

Hashemi who is meanwhile the representative of the Iranian Telecom Industries Syndicate (ITIS) then introduced the ITIS member companies' capacities and products to the Azerbaijani delegation and announced their readiness for expansion of relations with Azerbaijan Republic.
