Iranian president Hassan Rouhani said that the Islamic Republic is not trying to dominate the Middle East region.

"Nor dominating the region, neither Shiites hegemony over the Sunnis are not among Iran's purposes," Rouhani said, adding the Islamic Republic wants honor of the region's all nations.

Earlier Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused the Islamic Republic of trying to monopolize the Middle East by seeking a Shia-dominated hegemony in neighbor countries.
Iran has supported any country in the region which was suffering from terrorism and insecurity, Rouhani underlined.

"We prevented terrorism's victory in the region," the Iranian president said, Iran 's state-run IRINN TV reported live on April 15.

He further called the regional administrations to respect the people's demands and cooperate to safeguard peace and security.

Rouhani also criticized the Saudi Arabia-led coalition's air strikes in Yemen , accusing the countries of killing women and children.

He further said that the Islamic Republic will continue to support oppressed people any where in the world.

An international military operation kicked off on March 26 in Yemen against Iran-backed Shiite group (Ansarullah), with involvement of the armed forces of a number of Arab states led by Saudi Arabia.

The Shiite rebels have taken control of several cities and are assaulting the port of Aden, where Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi had been based before fleeing to Riyadh .

Iran denies accusations that it gives military assistance to the Shiite group.
