Azerbaijan and Slovenia are to sign an agreement on cooperation in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Bled, Slovenia on 28 August. The Azerbaijani delegation headed by Ali Abbasov, the Communication and Information Technology Minister, is in an official visit to Slovenia.

The Azerbaijani minister signed a document with the Minister of Economy of Slovenia, Andrej Vizak.

The minister also visited one of the leading Slovenian ICT firms of IskraTel, and will meet with Andrej Polenec, the Managing Director of the firm. The Azerbaijani delegation got amiliar with the production of IskraTel, and prospects of bilateral cooperation will also be discussed. Within the framework of the visit the Azerbaijani delegation attended the meeting in the Ljubljana University.

The major reason for the visit was to participate at the annual forum of the European Union 2020: Enlarging and Integrating, which was held on 26-27 August. А.Аbbasov made a report of Development of ICT in Azerbaijan. The visit by the delegation will end on 30 August.

ICT is an important tool which might have a positive impact on the development of the society. Global experience testifies that broad use of ICT promotes general socio-economic development of the country and is an efficient mean for poverty reduction. So, it is very important for every country to have own national ICT strategy, needed for the using the priorities of the potential.

Increase in information flow is one of difficult processes, which has a number of scientific, technical, technological, economic, social and political aspects. To complete process successfully it is necessary to use correctly the resources (human resources, technical means, software, financial and political), coordinate and regulate the activities and compile realistic operative tasks and priorities.
