A total of seven people were killed and 25 others injured in separate attacks in Baghdad and Iraq's volatile province of Diyala during late Monday and Tuesday morning, police said on Tuesday.

Six people were killed and 20 others wounded in a suicide bomb attack on Monday evening at the entrance of a Shiite mosque in the city of Baquba, the capital of Diyala province in northeast of Baghdad, provincial police source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity, Xinhua reported.

The bomber disguised in police uniform blew up his explosive vest just outside the mosque after the guards stopped him for his ID card, the source said.

Four policemen were among the deaths and six others were among the wounded, he said.

The mainly Sunni city of Baquba, some 65 km northeast of Baghdad, has been hit by several deadly bombings despite repeated U.S. and Iraqi military operations in the past years against al- Qaida militants and other insurgent groups.

On Tuesday morning, an interior ministry source told Xinhua that a roadside bomb exploded near a four-wheel drive vehicle carrying employees of the Iraqi Health Ministry in Palestine street in eastern Baghdad, killing an employee and wounding three others, the source said.

Two civilians were also wounded by the blast, he added.

Sporadic attacks, including deadly ones, still common in Baghdad and other Iraqi cities as part of recent deterioration in security which highlights the difficulties the Iraqi government faces in its efforts to restore normalcy in the country after more than two months of U.S. troops pullout of cities and towns.
