In the case of success in the presidential elections I will try to enable invalid articles of the Constitution of Iran related to national and religious minorities, Mehdi Karroubi, a presidential candidate from the reformers camp, chairman of the Etemad Melli (National Trust or National Confidence party) party, said in an interview with the Trend Persian Desk.
"I turned to national and religious minorities spoke about my program related to religious and national minorities. If I'll win in the presidential election, I will try to perform invalid articles of the Constitution," Karroubi said.
According to him, in case of winning the election, he would pursue the 15th and 19th articles of the Constitution. "I will do utmost to ensure the rights of all Iranians," he said..
Under the 15th article of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the national minorities living in Iran can talk and explore the literature in their native language on equal terms with the Persian.
This article calls for the removal of obstacles in the use of minority languages in the press, their teaching in schools and universities.
Under the 19th article of the Constitution, citizens of Iran, regardless of race or national origin have equal rights. There shall be no discrimination based on nationality and race. All citizens have equal political, social, cultural, economic and civil rights.
