Three policemen were killed and two others sustained injuries as a roadside bomb struck their vehicle in Helmand province, south of Afghanistan Thursday, provincial administration spokesman Daud Ahmadi said, Xinhua reported.
"The incident occurred in Gereshk district this morning, as a result three police were killed on the spot and two others got wounded," Ahmadi told Xinhua.
He blamed the Taliban for the deadly incident but the militants have yet to make comment.
Taliban militants fighting the Afghan government often plant mines on roads to target Afghan government and international troops.
