Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Dec. 6 / Trend H. Hasanov /

A report by the Turkmen State Service on Combating Drugs on implementing drastic measures to intensify the fight against drug trafficking was heard at a meeting of the Turkmen State Security Council, the Altyn Asir national television channel reported.

The meeting was chaired by Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov.

As media previously reported, as a result of operational activities carried out jointly by the Interior Ministry and National Security Ministry in the Balkan and Lebap provinces, a criminal group engaged in transporting and selling drugs was arrested in August.

Berdimuhammadov noted that "those who make a living by trading drugs have no conscience, no honor, and they have no place among us."

At the meeting, participants discussed the situation on the border, strengthening the country's socio-political stability, and activities undertaken by the prosecutor to ensure the rule of law in all spheres of the government and public.

Berdimuhammadov gave specific instructions to each relevant head of the government, focusing on "the need to strengthen educational work with staff and increase staff skills and their personal responsibility for the work entrusted to them."
