Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov has appointed Dovlet Mommayev a new head manager of the state concern "Turkmengas" by his decree. According to the official Turkmen source Dovlet Mommayev was fulfilling the duties of the deputy chairman in the concern's administration before.
The previous chairman of "Turkmengas" working at this position from October 2009 - Nuri Mukhamedov was dismissed at the last governmental meeting held on October 8 in Ashgabat.
At the present time "Turkmengas" has been performing the following types of works:
- development of gas and gas condensate deposits;
- gas and gas condensate extraction;
- natural gas refining;
- transportation of gas, gas condensate and liquefied gas;
- sale of gas and products of its refinement within the country and for export;
- drilling of operational wells in the eastern part of the country;
- development of new forms of mutually beneficial external economic relations.
In 2009 Turkmenistan managed to realize the diversification of natural gas sales beside Russia. In the end of the last year a gas pipeline to China was put into operation, slightly later an additional branch to Iran was brought into service. At the same time this year the export to Russia, which was stopped on April 2009 due to a technical incident, has been restored.
Among the projects discussed there are additional gas pipelines to Russia (Caspian Sea side - through Kazakhstan), to Europe (NABUCCO - via Caspian Sea through Azerbaijan) and to India (Trans Afghanian across Pakistan).
