BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 16. Nizami Ganjavi International Center invites young leaders to the XII Global Baku Forum, Head of the PR and IT Department of Nizami Ganjavi International Center (NGIC) Mehri Huseynli told Trend.

“For almost 10 years now, Nizami Ganjavi International Center has been implementing the Young Leaders Program (YLP), providing participants with a unique opportunity to speak at the Global Baku Forums and discuss the most pressing global issues. In this way, the Center affords young people from around the world a chance to present their ideas to influential leaders, including current and former presidents, prime ministers, heads of international organizations, and Nobel Prize winners. This platform allows participants to share their views as well as learn from world leaders by listening to their experiences. The young leaders, through such exchanges, broaden their understanding of international challenges, learn about global decision-making, and develop effective strategies for the development of the world,” she noted.

Huseynli stressed that since its establishment, the Young Leaders Program has gained wide international prestige and continues to be successfully implemented with the participation of more than 250 young leaders from 40 countries.

“I would like to note that the Center is preparing for the next XII Global Baku Forum. Registration of young leaders for the Forum, which will be held from March 13 to 15, 2025, is already open. The Center invites young people aged 18-35 from political, social, humanitarian, economic, environmental, legal, innovation, and scientific sectors who continue their professional activities in these fields to put forward their candidacies for participation in the Forum,” she added.

In line with the above realms, Huseynli also asserted that the Center has always paid special attention to gender issues.

"As is known, the co-chair of the Center is former Latvian President Vaira Vike-Freiberga, and the overwhelming majority of its members and board of directors are women. They also actively participate on the boards of leading gender organizations such as the LİMA Gender Program, GWL Voices, Vital Voices, and GIWPS, which further strengthens the Center's global commitment to promoting gender equality,” she stated.

She noted that the Center has always attached great importance to gender equality at the Global Baku Forums and High-Level Meetings around the world.

“I would especially like to highlight the 30th High-Level Meeting organized by the Centre in September 2024 during the UN General Assembly. In New York, ICSC co-organized with UN Women a panel discussion on “Women's Role and Leadership in a Multi-Lateral System”. The event featured influential women leaders, including UN Women Executive Director Sima Sami Bahous. Also, ICSC held various events within COP29 organized by Azerbaijan with the heads of international organizations,” she underlined.

The official added that such prominent women leaders as co-chair of the Center, former President of Latvia Vaira Vike-Freiberga, former President of Finland Tarja Halonen, 73rd President of the UN General Assembly Maria Fernanda Espinosa, the first woman President of Ireland Mary Robinson, former Prime Minister of the UK Theresa May, member of the Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the Committee on Family, Women and Children Affairs Hijran Huseynov, spoke at these events and discussed important topics related to the promotion of gender equality.
