Azerbaijan, Iran consider building new bridge over Araz River

Azerbaijan and Iran hoping to build a new bridge (over Araz River) on the border in Aslanduz County of Ardabil Province (north-western Iran), Governor of Ardabil Province Hamed Amili told reporters, Trend reports citing Iranian media.

According to Amili, initial steps have been taken on the building of the bridge. The construction of the bridge will make a significant contribution to economic development.

The governor also added that the opening of a new checkpoint at the Aslanduz border is of interest. Because the checkpoint will be a spotlight in view of economic.

Iran's Ardabil Province covers an area of 17,900 square kilometers. The border of the province with Azerbaijan is 372 km long.
