BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 9. The volume of guaranteed wheat purchased from farmers in Razavi Khorasan province in northeastern Iran in the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024 through March 2025) is expected to increase by 13 percent compared to last year (from March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024), general director of the branch of Iran's state trading company in Razavi Khorasan region, Vahid Reza Feridouni said, Trend reports.
According to him, 430,000 tons of guaranteed wheat are expected to be purchased from farmers in Razavi Khorasan province this year.
The official noted that 380 thousand tons of guaranteed wheat worth about 56.6 trillion rials (about $1.35 billion) were purchased from farmers in Razavi Khorasan province last year.
Feridouni emphasized that about 179,000 ha of wheat have been sown in the region this year. Of these, about 137,000 hectares have been sown and 41,700 hectares have been planted.
Feridouni added that 55 wheat procurement centers have been established in the province.
To note, during the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024 through March 20, 2025), 1 kg of wheat in Iran is purchased under the guarantees of the State Trading Company for 175,000–180,000 rials (about $4.17–$4.3).
