ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, May 8. Farmers of the Dashoguz region, located in the north of Turkmenistan, plan to harvest over 500 tons of silkworm cocoons this season, Trend reports.
According to an official source, the bulk of silkworm cocoons will be produced in the Shavat and Akdepe districts, at least 80 tons in the Gerogly district, and 71 tons in the Boldumsaz district.
Furthermore, at the moment, mulberry plantations in the region occupy more than 2,000 hectares.
The Dashoguz region has all the necessary conditions for the successful development of sericulture, including the presence of dozens of specialized hatcheries.
During the feeding of caterpillars, special attention is paid to creating optimal conditions for regulating temperature, humidity, air exchange, and lighting in the feeding rooms.
Turkmenistan expects to gather around 2,100 tons of silkworm cocoons this year, with the Lebap region in the country's east planning the biggest volume of product collection (1,010 tons).
Overall, during the last year, farms around Turkmenistan
collected more than 2,300 tons of silkworm cocoons, substantially
exceeding the plan.
